Libya and photojournalisum

Recently I have been thinking "Do I want to do the whole Photojournalism thing?" and after Saturday I said to myself yes. I went to a Libyan celebration at Parliament Hill in Ottawa and the rush of being there was awesome. Hearing them scream "Kill Gaddafi" was just amazing to know I was there being a part of history. And it got me thinking...Wait a minute anytime anything big has happened when most people ran away form it I was the one running toward it to get a better look. Anytime a big war or disaster happens I want to be there to witness it myself. This is what I want to do.

"Snow-magedon"

The super bad "Snowstorm" we were suppose to have was weak.. We got the day off school for a storm that I would have not even gotten the day off High school for. But whatever we managed to get the day off so I was very happy :). I did manage to go out for a bit with my girlfriend and get some shots. I did not get anything great or even really that good but here are the best of what i got

This was the first shot I had that day. I literally just got out of the car and CLICK took it. I think it's ok

This picture is not really that good. But I like it. The only thing that can make this more Canadian is if this guy had a Timmies cup. I mean common! Snow, Jacket, BEER (Budweiser to my favorite, God I can't wait to go home and have some more with my friends..)

Also some pictures of plows and stuff but bleah..

Multi-media

Multi-media....I have to admit I'm a little exitited to get started on working on my first multi-media project. I used to be into film before I found photography but never really did anything with it. I just think it's going to be another challenge to do, and I do enjoy a good challenge. We were not allowed to do a deep story on anyone for the first time. Instead we had to find a person with a interesting job. Lucky enough I was contacted by a woman who has a small petting zoo she runs for her wedding. BINGO! Wow did I get lucky on that one because I really wouldn't have known where to start because I don't know this town to well yet.......I should really get out more

Me...

This is me.. my name is Thomas.. and I am a photographer.
Photography was not a passion of mine while growing up. For the most part all I wanted to do was join the Army. At the age of 17  did just that and through the course of my basic training I started to take pictures and it eventually got more and more serious. After graduation I started to become more interested in photography and took a course at the local college. After some time I left the Army in pursuit of following my newly found passion of photography. After a discussion with my dad, talking about how I want to travel with my work and potentially help people one day he suggested I study photojournalism, and here I am. I have a lot of goals, but ultimately I want to be a photographer for a humanitarian organization like Red Cross or Rotary. Along with that I want to be a conflict photographer. Anyways that is me in a very very small nutshell, I hope you enjoy my page.
